The Council of Muslim Lifestyle Support (CMLS) helps restaurants welcome Muslim diners. We organize information so people can choose a restaurant that fits them, and we work for the sound growth of Japan’s Muslim dining market.

The Council does not operate for its own profit. Its purpose is the growth of the industry as a whole. As a member of Shokudanren (the Japan Restaurant Organizations Federation), we advocate an environment shaped from the viewpoint of international guests and restaurant owners.
An official body within the Japan Delivery Association (JDA), a general incorporated associationJapan’s restaurant market continues to shrink as the population declines. Welcoming visitors from abroad is a new opportunity for restaurants to grow.
Preparation for Muslim guests has not caught up. Restaurants need a way to check ingredients and cooking methods, and to explain clearly what each restaurant can offer.
CMLS supports the work of individual restaurants and, across the industry, expands an environment where people can dine with confidence.
To connect diners and businesses, CMLS is built on five activities.
Seminars and study sessions on the basics and practice of welcoming Muslim diners
Exchange among businesses, specialists, and Muslim communities
Advice on menu development, ingredient sourcing, halal certification, and restaurant operations
Standards and information, including the Halal Food Map, that show clearly what each restaurant offers
Work with ministries and related organizations to shape the market as a whole
